Iona revisited, 2004.
I travelled to Iona twenty years ago. Just one day on the island was enough to captivate me and bring a sense of peace. The pictures from this series come from a more recent trip. It was nearly midsummer’s day, so I was outside from eight o’clock in the morning until midnight. The quality of light, together with the spiritual atmosphere on Iona, kept my senses alive. The pictures are about my own particular emotions at the time, reflections on life and a response to the people I met during my time there.
This beach was the place where the monks were massacred by the Norse invaders many years ago. Now it is a haven of peace.
